Top 20 Songs by the Kinks
Просмотров 61 тыс.12 лет назад
20 of the best songs by one of the most under-rated classic rock bands of their time... The Kinks!
You did good. Lifelong Fan. My list is a little different but we agree they're amazing.
20th Century Man from Muswell Hillbillies.
No love for The Game, King of Kings or Line in the Sand?
Those songs are good, but nowhere near the best in my opinion. Do you only know Motorhead through the songs that the WWE used?
@@gash666 no, but WWE got me into Motörhead something like 10 years ago I would rank them inside the top 20, but I'm probably biased because of the nostalgia I feel when I hear them
@@Manuel_1860 I don't really know anything about the WWE, but the fact that it got you into Motorhead is really cool. Even as a huge Motorhead fan, I had no idea that they had those songs associated with the WWE. Very cool.
Solid list, Chris. Trying to pick out our favorite kinks songs is like picking out which one of your children you love the most, it’s impossible
Here is my top 10 10. Wild Horses 9. You Can't Always Get What You Want 8. Rocks Off 7. Play With Fire 6. Moonlight Mile 5. Paint It Black 4. Gimme Shelter 3. Can't You Hear Me Knocking 2. Sympathy For The Devil 1. Midnight Rambler (Hot Rocks 64-71)
If I didn't forget all the time, well I'd swear half these songs were by someone else back in the day. but I forgot 👍✌️🙏. R&R KINKS 🌈
Waterloo sunset Two Sisters Days Village Green Sunny Afternoon David Watt Dedicated follower Rosie won't you please Most exclusive residence Victoria Picture book Dead end street Lola Arthur Johnny Thunder Well have all a good time Well respected man Mr Pleasant Afternoon tea Love me till the sun shines Situation vacants Yes Sir, no Sir Everybodies's gonna be happy Animal farm I'll remember All day, all of the night You really got me
Good list. Back where we started...?
This list was put together by an obvious 70s/80s fan. No harm. It touches on the hits of the 60s but it mainly ignores the buried classics of the 60s like Shangri La, David Watts, VGPS, Waterloo Sunset etc. The Kinks had a great arena run after Lola came out (no pun) into the 80s and this list reflects that. Nice to hear Father Xmas though (:
Fair enough. Thanks.
I highly disagree lol. Just think that Waterloo Sunset and Strangers are not in the list lol
I think it's a shame we forget the London year's, Looney Ballon , War is over , Aggravation , video shop , think visual , I'm still waiting for TV to turn up in a commercial , can you imagine it on the latest EV like Tesla .
The #1 Kinks' song ever is Waterloo Sunset. Other top songs are, IMHO: Get Back in Line, This is Where I Belong, Days, Shangri-La, and Money & Corruption/I'm Your Man
Muswell Hillbilly が入っていないのは残念だな。 The Kinks を初めて聴いたのが、“Muswell Hillbillies”のアルバムだったからね。
You missed 5 songs completely all that should be in the top ten. Idiot
Fraudulent top
I love the Kinks but these songs suck after all they put a lot of bad stuff MY pic would be This Time tommorw Strangers Young and inncocent days Wonderboy End of the season Sitting by the riverside Oklama USA Sitting in my hotel School Days Some Mothers Son This Man he weeps tonight Sweet Lady Geneieve Sttting in my hotel Olk USA Thers 2 much on my mind Better things Living on a thin line I gor that feeling Waterloo Sunset Check these songs out I have no more time to BS online but I know that most you can get this stuff online that is ok with me becase there are no more places to buy CDs anymore LOL
Faltaron wonder boy y waterloo sunset que son fabulosos!!....deberieron haber estado....está dentro de lo mejor de su catalogo
Wonderboy most underrated? Two sisters and village green favs.
Thanks for the comment on our My Kind of Lover cover a while back. Thought I'd pay back the favor and check out your video. Very cool song! I like it. The bassist kinda looks like Rob Crow, which is a good thing - because Rob is awesome! Keep on Rockin'!
I love that Lola was at the top of the list! Even if it's not my favorite now, I loved it when it was new. Besides sounding so good, it was just amazing that they were able to make a song that sounded so great that people adored it and accepted what it was about, and the world needed that. I consider it a great achievement for The Kinks--I was there, just old enough to "get it" and admire the humor, and Ray's clever lyrics, the voices and the music. I was a kid in the "Bible Belt" in a southern state of America. This song actually accomplished something in the world, made life a little easier somewhere, for somebody.
One heck of a list man. Really brought back some memories. These guys are brilliant and love to push the musical boundaries of popular music.
No love for No Expectations
Feliz año nuevo
"Cliches of the World" should be in this list.
All in all a pretty agreeable list although no songs from any of the concept albums is odd. Don’t agree with Lola as #1. Should be top 10… Waterloo Sunset, Days, Village Green Preservation Society, I’m not like every body else, Autumn Almanac, Dead End Steet.. I could add a couple more…
Not enough !
Es raro que no mencionen all the day, all the night, es realmente explosiva
"All Day and All of the Night" "Til the End of the Day" -- still a rave up! "Do You Remember Walter?" (a bit like a bloke who I know only too well). "Big Black Smoke" -- a fave of mine. "Living on a Thin Line" -- the guys in the band had much to say there.
The best, Better Things, and Come Dancing! They were many but these two are from them, my favorites.
Sunny afternoon. 😸🌎🌻❤️
For a time, the Kinks topped out the Beatles for me. That's saying something. Was always a fan. And just when I thought they were fading, they gave us "Come Dancing", a wonderful upbeat nostalgic hymn to good times. And... I think their best three songs, in order, still remain as "Village Green Preservation Society"; "Waterloo Sunset", and "Deadend Street"; so indicative of everything Davies wrote about.
Gimme Shelter is still very actual song
1. Waterloo Sunset 2. Sunny Afternoon 3. Lola 4. Dedicated Follower of Fashion 5. Tired of Waiting for You 6. Come Dancing 7. Days 8. Dead End Street 9. Autumn Almanac 10. You Really Got Me 11. All Day And All Of the Night 12. Apeman 13. Death Of A Clown 14. See My Friends 15. Set Me Free 16 Till The End of the Day 17. A Well Respected Man 18. Mr Pleasant 19.. Victoria 20. Susannah's Still Alive
Sway is in top 10 easily and you didn't even had it in here.
Waterloo Sunset?
Some absolutely bizarre choices for a best of, so many 60s classics missing - Waterloo Sunset, Shang-ri La, Days, Where Have all the good times gone, See My Friends, Animal Farm, Do you Remember Walter, Arthur, Autumn Almanac, Big Sky
Great list!!
1.Gimme Shelter 2.Shine A Light 3.Jumpin' Jack Flash 4.Rough Justice 5.Angie (Unplugged) 6.Wild Horses 7.Sympathy For The Devil 8.Like A Rolling Stone (Brixton) 9.Brown Sugar 10.Star Star
Good list, Chris! For me, 50 years since I became a fan, Gimme Shelter is the greatest rock song ever recorded, and the 2nd greatest song ever recorded after the stereo mix of God Only Knows. My Number 2 Stones song would have to Mick's wonderful tribute to Brian Shine A Light! Glad you removed the record label misprint Paint It, Black.
Their masterpieces Waterloo Sunset, Death of a clown, 20th century man and Around the dial are missing.
Oh shoot!!!! Almost forgot that one! Around the Dial. What a great song. Haven't heard that in a long, long time. They could be so sassy!!! I'm firing that one right now. One later song I love by them is Sleazy Town!!! So raunchy and very, very sassy lol!!!
Not sure Superman would rank higher than Rock and Roll Fantasy in my list…
Pretty solid list, I was surprised. Not my list, but tasteful. Missing "Waterloo Sunset" is a sin, of course, and my Top 20 would include "This Time Tomorrow," "Sweet Lady Genevieve" and a few more from the '70s at the expense of the '80s stuff.
Sweet Lady Genevieve. Fantastic. If I ever hear it on the radio , I’ll faint !! ( Don’t forget to Dance better than Come Dancin btw )
Waterloo Sunset is a masterpiece.
Enjoyed viewing your list. Can't really argue with a guy's opinion, as it is his or her opinions, but......... "Tired of Waiting" is one of the Kinks' worst songs. Definitely in their bottom five. The only thing that it had (or even has) going for it is that it contains a mellow version of the power chord routine that gave them their first hit.
Jumping jack flash behind I can`t get no satisfaction!!! Shame on you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The best
Am I the only person that likes The Road?
Isn't that a live album, which should mean that the song selection is irrelevant?
I love The Road
It’s an album & song
The neighborhood I grew up in ,I was the youngest 1 of the bunch, I miss hearing those on the radio
Bitch'n tune.
Growing up from the 60's on, you forget how good these guys were.
The Kinks were the real deal. Way ahead of their time.
